It looks like you guys are having fun. Highschool is pretty great. The first week wasnt that bad, but it was pretty nerve wracking. Anyways, I might come down at lunch with some of the guys to see you.

    1. Jackson!! So great to hear from you! I had a great summer with some sailing and lots of gardening. It was lovely to have my daughter home. Nelson went commercial fishing for 6 weeks. It was very strange not to have him around. I heard that the Heritage Fair was a fun experience–I am glad you and Brianne went. I will certainly pass on your message to our class. Please come back for a visit sometime if you can.
      A big hug,

    1. Hi Carson, I am glad you noticed that my previous students are writing back–I hope you too will become attached to your class blog. By the way, we are not too worried about the number of visitors on the blog (people stop by by accident all the time). We are more grateful for the real connections we get with other classes like yours. Take care, Ms. S.

  6. Hi. I ABSOLUTELY Love your video. I think it was super clever. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next. Love your blog.

    1. Well, you make my day, Hannah! I think your class blog is super clever too. We will be visiting very soon! Best wishes, Ms. Smith

  7. Great to hear about your summer! I would never be able to go fishing for that long, I would be puking all the time! The heritage fair was a total blast and I’m really glad I got to go and I wouldn’t have made it without you. I will definitly visit on a monday or friday because I don’t have school on those days, have a great Thanksgivings!
    A big hug in return,
    Jackson

    1. You know you are always welcome, Jackson. I am thrilled that your Abbotsford experience was so rewarding. Please say high to Jordan and maybe the two of you can drop by as blog coaches. Or drama. Or… well anything πŸ™‚
See you soon I hope, Ms. S.

  8. Are the students allowed to wear sunglasses at school? Also isn’t it Autumn/Fall for you in the Northern Hemisphere? On a serious note its wonderful to see that you are posting again and back into online work and material! Thrilled to see it. Its just getting into Summer here in New Zealand so we have ten weeks of school left until the end of the year! Would love to collaborate before then and will keep an eye on your site as always!
Mr Webb and Room Five, Melville Intermediate School, Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand.

    1. Hi Mr. Webb,
Yes, students may wear sunglasses at school, but outside of course as I might not recognize them if they wore them in class! It is supposed to be rainy and cool by now but we are having a long stretch of summer-like weather, very unusual for us. But the rains will come. This new group of bloggers is just about to begin commenting–we will be dropping by soon!
      Best wishes, Jan Smith

  9. I can already tell that this year is going to be the best year ever for me! A few reasons are:

    1. I have you again (Best teacher ever!!!)

    2. I still have my friends (all but one:( )

    3. I believe it will be.

I am glad to have you again.
    —Chelsey—

    1. Hi Chelsey,
You know, you made my day. I have to say your #3 point is the reason why you WILL have a great year. The secret to happiness is changing your inner dialogue. I am so glad to have you again. You are wonderful. πŸ™‚
      ~Ms. Smith

  10. Hi there Huzzah!!!

My name is Letty, and I am from Mr. Miller’s class. It really does look like you are going to have a great year. I love the pictures, and the shades. I am really enjoying my second year as a blogger. I remember all the times playing in the playground, and I really miss that. By the way, I hope you have a completely awesome year. I have a question for your class: What do you hope to learn from blogging? What are you mostly looking forward to when blogging?

    – Letty πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Letty, thanks for your thoughtful questions. I will ask my students to reply. Our playground equipment is new last year so even though one might think we are too old for it–well, there is something about the swings that is quite irresistible. πŸ™‚
      Thanks again for visiting,
      ~Ms. S.

  11. Hi Mrs.Smith, my name is Caroline.I am in Mr.Miller’s class. I watched the very cool video posted and it seems to me as those kids are very happy to be the class of 2013. The music was very catchy and fun to listen to. Maybe I will put a video of the class of 2014. Please come and visit my blog at: http://mrmillersstudent204.edublogs.org/

    ~Caroline

    1. Hi Caroline, I see by your blog and others that your class is familiar with Animoto videos…even if you don’t leave your school next year why not do a video with sunglasses? I know you get more sun in California than we do in British Columbia! I know we will connect again through the year.
      ~ Ms. S.

  12. Hi Ms.Smith, my name is Cristina I’m a 7th grader in Mr.Miller’s class I was searching around in your blog and I saw the Here they are :class of 2013 and I have a question do you quys wear sunglass in school?

    1. Hi Cristina, students don’t usually wear sunglasses in school–how would I recognize them? We don’t as much sun as you do, so wearing sunglasses is a cause for celebration. Hope you have a great year of learning.
      ~ Ms. S.

  13. Hello Ms Smith, my name is Uriel I’am in Mr Millers Class. I like how you guys did your slideshow video. I’am a 7th grader in California. We started school on August 14,2012.Our last day is May 31,2013.What grade are your students in?Were going to graduate middle school in 2014.How is Canada like? Well I enjoyed writing a comment on your page.I hope you can visit my at http://mrmillersstudent202.edublogs.org/ Thank You

    1. Hi Uriel, we started a month after you and will finish a month after you. My students are in the 7th grade, too. In our school district we have Kindergarten to grade 7 and then 8 to 12. Thanks for posting the link to your blog!
      ~Ms. S.

  14. Hi Mrs.Smith,

My name is Areli and I’m in Mr.Miller’s 7th grade class here in California. That was a very cool video about your 2013 class! The music was went really well with the video. I also have a video on my blog, but instead I did a link to it. Was hard making that video?

    ~Areli, http://mrmillersstudent104.edublogs.org/

    1. Hi Areli,
I am very impressed with what you and your AVID classmates have accomplished. Mr. Miller is a skillful blogger and he will be able to teach you how to embed a video. Most of what I do is slideshows turned into videos–it’s straight forward and not quite as time consuming as making a real video–editing is complicated, I find.
Good luck in all you do!
      ~Ms. S.

  15. Hi Ms. Smith! My name is Natalie and I am from Mr. Miller’s class. WOW! It looks like the class is going to have a great year. I love how their future is so bright, they have to wear shades. They look like very good kids. I’m pretty sure they are going to have a SUPER bright future, they will more than just shades. The video was great! I love the photos! I especially love how you got the perfect shots. What kind of camera did you use?
    ~Natalie πŸ™‚ pirate65.edublogs.org

    1. Hi Natalie,
I am glad you liked the video. I just used my little Cannon Powershot–a great little all-purpose camera. Yes, we all need more than shades for our bright futures. Some of it is learned at school, and most of it is from how we deal with the experiences we have. You will soon be getting visits from students from my class.
      Thanks for visiting,
      ~ Ms. S.

  16. Hi I was just going around on blogs to come to see this. I love the show called Me and my shadow. That was awsome. Did you guys draw that. I know that I can draw good but not that well. Please visit my blog.

    1. Hi Zander, thanks for visiting. Yes, the students did draw the “Me and My Shadow” pictures. I bet you could do a picture like that–like everything in life, it just takes practice.
      ~Ms. S.
