Our Robot Dance-Off

Robots are pretty fascinating. And, as we have discovered over the last few weeks, a great challenge and a lot of fun. Here is a video of our efforts.

We are really grateful to our guest judges, Mrs. Mooney, Ms. Janine, Mrs. Crawford, and Mrs. Timmins. Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback!

Huzzahnians, please comment below and tell us two things: 1. what was your great aha! and 2. what was your personal victory in this competition?

  1. Dear Hazzahnians,

We really liked your idea of robots and we also think that robots are cool and fascinating.
Did you know that in practice a robot ia usually a electro-machanical machine which can be guided by computer or electronic programming.
    Anyway, here’s a question,
if you were a robot, would you go againsts the world and humans or help the world and humans.

    1. Hmmmm. Knowing my students, I think some of them would entertain the world, some would torment the world, and all would (eventually) help the world. Thanks for visiting, Christina and Madalyn.

    1. I would have to say the human dancing was actually the most fun for me. I think the students loved almost every minute of this experience.

  2. I don’t go to your school but I really like your ideas about making a cool robot.

I was just wondering how long you have been doing your own blog for?

    Great work!

    1. I’ve had a blog for my class for about three years now, but my students have been blogging for about 8 months. Thanks for visiting, KImberley!

  3. Hi Ms Smith,
I think my favorite part of the dance off was creating our own bot for the challenge, and problem solving the programming. (I wrote this comment from my Wii)

  4. I loved your dance off it was wonderful it would be cool if you would do another one.Where did you get the idea from? I can’t wonder how hard it took the kid to do it?

    1. I think we will be doing another this year. Robot dance routines are part of competitions sometimes. Sometimes hard work is fun–and satisfying!

  5. Hi Ms.Smith

The robot dance off looks like it would have been really fun. How many days did you spread the 5 hours into? I hope we do something similar this year.

    1. It took us about a week after we had learned the basics of robotics. We will do a robotics unit sometime after March.

  6. Hi, the Shoreline Clean-up at Point Holmes was a perfect day for it. I found a ton of rope. I wonder which class got really weird stuff? I had such a good time, but on the way back me and Mya got stung by a bee and it hurt!!!!

  7. Hi Ms. Smith,

That video was very entertaining with all the people dancing and the robots wearing clothes or masks. I think the best dance was the last ones that danced to Higher. I think they earned the right to win. Will you do this again this year with us?

  8. Hi Huzzah blog,
My name is Raiyaan and I’m from PDS. I really liked the robot dance video that your students made. I liked it because it was really funny. I think all of your robots were amazing at dancing and at looks. I like the last one because of the song and the dance. I also liked the third one because of the crazy hair due. The looks on the robots were stunning yet funny. I wish that the dances could have been different instead of being almost the same.
