What if…

Eric’s post made me giggle–and who doesn’t need a giggle on March 23rd?

I was inspired to write this by the novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, because so very much, if not all of the novel is illogical and nonsense. I made a list consisting of nine impossible things, and giving my thoughts on them.

hot dog_toast for brekkieWhat if it was possible…

  • To grow wings. I am likely thinking about this because I’d love to fly naturally (I hate planes, for several reasons I won’t explain right now) and soar above land, and be one with the wind.
  • That you could dig your way to China, without being burnt alive by the earth’s core. I highly doubt that the hole would be finished by the end of those people’s lifetimes, and judging by the size of the earth, a hole to the other side of the world is quite impossible…. or is it?
  • To find a vegetable that you can eat with your mind okay, let’s skip that one.
  • That there was a way someone could translate all animal speech, and convert it into English. Perhaps this could happen…? I’m too young to figure out how this would work.
  • That furniture could speak. Furniture doesn’t have brains, and you need brains to work your body, and you also need a heart to pump your blood, and you need blood, too… So this is definitely impossible (or is it?)
  • A device that lets you speak with just using your mind. I suppose it is possible, but very very unlikely that device could be invented.
  • A live flower that spits water at you. Okay, I guess I was inspired to write this from those artificial flowers that spit water that clowns put in their breast-pocket. Perhaps scientists could genetically alter a plant…?
  • A volcano that erupts maple syrup. Why would I even consider this idea?
  • What if eggs were the size of pupils? Well, it is possible… I think. The climate could affect this, or if we find another species of bird that lays eggs so very small.

What about you? Do you have any interesting impossible ideas?

Feel free to respond here or on Eric’s original post.

  1. Haha I love this blog. I with it where true and I would be able to grow wings and that it was possible to dig to china I remember at the beach my mom told me to go out and try to dig a hole to china…..much to my despair I never got there haha. I LOVE IT

    1. Hi Gavin and Thein, I think the picture is pretty clever because the shuttle looks so much like a hotdog! I wonder what would happen if you ate the shuttle–we you get a quick to space or bad indigestion?

  2. Interesting photo for this entry…..Did you take it yourself or download it? What if it was possible to read minds? Would you want to do that?

    1. No, Nancy, the photo is not mine–the link to the photographer is at the bottom of the post–by toastforbrekkie. I like this type of picture–like the ones I’ve seen of people holding up the Eiffel Tower with one finger.

Personally, I would hate being able to read minds. Too noisy, too confusing–and I value my personal privacy as much as other’s value theirs!

    1. What great ideas, Moiraiya! I think my dogs would say “Feed ME!” I like the way the pictures on the walls of the Hogwarts talk and move…but it might creep me out in my own home…

  3. Dear Huzzah,

That was a great post! I also think of “What If” things a lot. The thing I mostly think about, is what if I could shape shift. Another thing I think about is if I could have one wish. I could wish of anything I want. The thing I would wish for would be UNLIMITED wishes.

    From,
    Charlie (In Mrs. Yollis’ class)

  4. Dear Huzzah,

I nearly fell off my chair when I saw that hilarious photograph of a man about to chomp a monstrous rocket. I wish I could grow wings and fly to China without getting sick. I wish furniture could talk so it would be more comfy when I command it to be.

    Sincerely,
    Sam

    1. Sam, I love the idea of flying with my own wings–because it is quite expensive and I would like to see much more of the world. I think furniture might complain a lot!

  5. Dear Mrs. Smith’s class,
It would be nice to grow wings! I had a pet fish I could kind of tell what it ment but it died…I looked at most of your blogs. You have been doing very well!
